Hi Friends! Happy Thursday!
Essential Oils and Utilizing More Natural Remedies
I jumped onto the essential oil bandwagon about a year ago and I LOVE them. I was looking for natural remedies to help reduce stress and improve sleep (for both me and my husband) and started to research essential oils. I’ve been diffusing lavender almost every night at bedtime and it’s been a huge hit with my husband (much to my surprise). He said that he wakes up feeling more refreshed and less tired ever since I started using them! I have also started to diffuse eucalyptus during the day because it has revitalizing, invigorating and clarifying attributes.
Good Shoes (and form!) Are SO Important
So, I’m pretty sure I ran my first half marathon in the wrong shoes. The day after I finished my half marathon I was ridiculously sore. And not the good kind of sore. After my half marathon I didn’t do any running at all for cardio because I just didn’t enjoy it very much. About a year ago I started working out at Orangetheory Fitness and running is one of the main components or the workout. At the end of last year I started suffering from some major shin splints. In an effort to nip the pain in the butt I went and had my stride analysed and then invested in a good stability shoe. I saw a little bit of relief at first, but my shin splints started making their appearance again after a few weeks. I’m starting to think they may be caused by my running form (heel striking to be exact) so I am trying to look into ways to correct that. Any tips?
Tips for Staying Hydrated
One fitness goal I try to achieve every single day is drinking at least one gallon of water (128 oz.). To help me jump start my water intake for the day, I always walk out of the door each morning with a full bottle of water. My goal is to finish it by the time I get to work. At the office I keep a gallon jug on my desk that I fill up each morning and aim to polish it off by close of business. Who else is in the gallon jug club with me?
I’ve been implementing the one-minute rule a lot more lately and I’ve found that it’s drastically helped my mood! If you haven’t heard of the one-minute rule, its extremely simple: do any task that can be completed in under one minute. So rather than leaving a dirty dish in the sink, I put it in the dishwasher right away. Rather than leaving my gym shoes by the front door, I put them away in the closet. I’ve truly found that Gretchen’s mantra of ‘outer order contributes to inner calm’ rings true!
