Hi, friends! Happy Friday! Sorry I have been a little MIA recently, we’ve had a lot of stuff going on over here lately. Sorry to be so vague, but there has been a ton of logistics to work out on our end, so I’ll be sharing more about that later. I’m popping in today to get back on with my normal blogging schedule. And since it’s Friday, that means it’s time for Friday Favorites where I share some things that I have been loving lately.
Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan
I started reading Beneath a Scarlet Sky this week and, oh my, if you enjoy historical fiction books that are based on true stories, you have to read this book. It is based on the true story of Pino Lella, an Italian teenager who enlisted as a German soldier at the urging of his parents to help ensure his safety. Pino ended up as a spy for the Allies during his assignment as the personal driver for Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers.
You can find my other favorite books here.
Stranger Things Season 2
If you haven’t jumped on the Stranger Things band wagon, you totally should. My husband and I both fell in love with the first season and were eagerly awaiting the release of the second. We watched the entire second season in a few short days and it was great! If you’re looking for a great show to binge watch, it’s Stranger Things!
Tomatoes + Eggs + Bacon + Avocado
Tomatoes, eggs, bacon and avocado may be my new favorite breakfast! It’s packed full of some healthy fats and a lot of protein. It reminds me of the buffet’s we used to eat at when we were on holiday in Thailand when I was younger. They always had tomatoes as an option and, while I never enjoyed them for breakfast as a kid, I love them for breakfast now!
Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Chicken Burgers
Who else goes into Trader Joe’s and gets totally overwhelmed by all the awesomeness? I feel like I want to buy everything in the store every time I go shopping there. Before my last trip, I did some research on must have Trader Joe items and these chile lime chicken burgers made it into my basket. Sadly, they went uneaten in my freezer for months. I pulled them out about a week ago to have for lunch and I was amazed at how flavorful they are. Throw these into your basket the next time you’re at Trader Joe’s. You’ll love em!
White Fudge Covered Oreos
One of my favorite seasonal food buys are hands down the white fudge covered Oreos that are available during Christmas. If you have never tried these, you’re missing out. I usually buy a box (or 4) during the holidays and they never last long at our house. They’re SO good!
Question of the day:
What are some things you’ve been loving lately?
